Luminescent chromalight display

The CHROMALIGHT display uses an innovative luminescent material which extends the threshold for visibility in dark conditions.

This substance, which emits a blue glow, is applied to the hands and hour markers of most Professional models in the OYSTER collection for optimal and long-lasting legibility. The luminosity duration of the CHROMALIGHT display is almost double that of a standard luminescent material and can extend beyond eight hours.

The intensity of the luminosity is also more consistent over the entire emission time. Introduced in 2008 on the ROLEX DEEPSEA divers' watch, waterproof to 3,900 metres (12,800 feet), and then on SUBMARINER DATE models, the luminescent CHROMALIGHT display features on virtually all the Professional models today.
