Traveling around the world is no longer the exclusive privilege of pilots and other professionals. A GMT function, which allows reading the time in a second time zone, not only fits well in globalized age, it’s also a superb feature for the famous Tudor Black Bay line.
Meet Black Bay GMT - a modern interpretation of a classic GMT, a watch that is not only a practical instrument, but also an object of emotion.
It's attractive to watch admirers looking for the vintage charisma, but it's also now on the radar for most demanding enthusiasts, looking for a contemporary performance.
The Tudor Black Bay collection had certainly established the reputation over the last years. It has unmistakable, authentic identity, and the new 41mm Black Bay GMT is not an exception. The Black Bay GMT continues to build on the collection’s vintage DNA, but this time with an additional complication and a legendary bi-colour bezel.
This matte blue and red bezel gave the watch its famous Pepsi nickname.
This bi-colour bezel is one of the main talking points of the GMT and it has been infused with Tudor famous creativity.
The twelve daylight hours are printed on the burgundy section and the night-time hours in the blue.
The bezel and case are completed with a riveted bracelet which, like many other details on the Black Bay GMT, recalls Tudor watches from the 1950s and ’60s.
Additional straps are available in brown leather, known as Terra di Siena or in a textile fabric, made in France by a family-owned company using traditional jacquard weaving technique.
An aperture at 3 o’clock reveals the date, while the Black Bay GMT retains the 200m water resistance of its dive watch siblings.
Placed on Tudor’s successful Black Bay dive watch base, the 41 mm stainless steel case is powered by Tudor’s caliber MT5652, an automatic in-house movement with GMT functionality.
This is not only Tudor’s first in-house GMT movement, but also the first GMT complication offered on their popular. The movement provides chronometer-grade performance and a 70-hour power reserve.
