Functionality meets nautical style in the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 37. Athough the line between ladies’ and men’s watches have blurred extensively over the last few years, there is something rather more feminine to the proportions of the Yacht-Master 37, which is why we are portraying it as a superb everyday-wear watch for ladies.
With an exterior crafted from 950 platinum and Oystersteel, the Yacht-Master 37 is ready for any occasion: let that be a weekend’s adventure away from the city or a formal evening reception.
The iconic three-link Oyster bracelet, the case-back and case-band of the Oyster case are all rendered in Oystersteel, this exceptionally corrosion-resistant stainless steel alloy that finishes with exceptional sheen and beauty.
The bezel, with its 60-minute graduation and large triangle at 12, is crafted from a block of solid 950 platinum — widely regarded as the most challenging metal to work with in watchmaking.
The radiant glow of 950 platinum stands in discreet contrast with the rest of the Oystersteel exterior.
On Rolex watches, Ice Blue is a color reserved to indicate the presence of platinum. On all-platinum models, such as the Platinum Daytona or Platinum Day-Date, a dial glistening in all-Ice Blue is available. On the Yacht-Master 37, a seconds hand and Yacht-Master designation on its dial signal that its bezel has been crafted from the precious metal.
Currently, the Yacht-Master 37 is exclusively available with a dark rhodium dial with white and blue texts and 18ct white gold indices and hands standing in stark contrast with this elegant background.
A date display with the iconic cyclops magnifier is present over 3 o’clock on the dial. All the hands and applied indices feature Rolex’s Chromalight glow-in-the-dark display for superb legibility in the dark.
The Yacht-Master 37 relies on the Rolex Manufacture Calibre 2236 to maintain its 55-hour power reserve and replenish it with Rolex’s highly efficient self-winding system. Like every Rolex watch currently produced, the Yacht-Master 37 is a Superlative Chronometer, which means that each and every individual watch has received the chronometer certification from the Swiss independent testing facility of COSC and has then successfully passed Rolex’s extremely stringent and thorough in-house quality control procedures.
At 37 millimeters wide, the Yacht-Master 37 offers outstanding style and lasting beauty, combined with the durability and accuracy that Rolex watches have been known for over a century.
