The Authorized Rolex Petite Geneve Petrovic boutique of Budapest has held a highly successful event together in partnership with Porsche Centrum Budapest and Hugo Boss. The guests had the chance to enjoy the company of Mark Webber, ex-Formula-1 driver and World Endurance Champion with Porsche.
Webber’s choice of watch for the event? It was the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona reference 116509 in solid 18ct white gold with a radiant blue dial and red accents. We get to meet Mark Webber through a dedicated article, and so today let us focus on this spectacular chronograph timepiece.
The Cosmograph Daytona has its roots set deep in car racing history. The Rolex Daytona, as it is most commonly known, stands as the ultimate tool watch for those with a passion for driving and speed.
Joined in name and function to the world of motorsports, it stands as a watchmaking icon and ranks among the most recognizable and desirable watches of our time.
With its 40mm wide case, the Daytona has maintained its timeless proportions. A rarely discussed, albeit hugely important aspect of the Daytona is how thin it sits on the wrist. With its curved case profile, steep-angled bezel and its beautifully compact Manufacture Rolex Caliber 4130, it serves car- and speed-lovers without bloated sizing or superfluous design elements.
With its tachymetric scale, its three counters and its pushers, the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to be the ultimate timing tool for endurance racing drivers. This chronograph allows the driver to measure elapsed time, which is displayed in hours, minutes and seconds on the dial. The hours and minutes are shown on the watch’s distinctive counters at 9 and 3 o’clock respectively, while the seconds are read using the arrow-tipped center hand and the 60-second scale around the dial. The so-called “running seconds” is indicated on the 6 o’clock sub-dial.
Matched to the three-link Oyster bracelet in solid 18ct white gold, the Daytona combines gold’s prestigious heft with outstanding wearing comfort.
The folding Oysterlock safety clasp features an Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link that can be opened or closed without the use of any tools.
Introduced in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona remains in a class of its own among sport chronographs and continues to transcend time — more than 50 years after its creation. Combined with a deep, yet vibrant blue dial and gently, but noticeably brushed “sunburst” surfaces, it makes for a noble, timeless, yet aptly dynamic timepiece… One to be seen in the metal to be fully appreciated.
We would be delighted to present you the Daytona collection in our Petite Geneve Petrovic boutiques in Budapest, Belgrade and Porto Montenegro.
